The Tour of Remodeled Homes presented by the Remodelers Council of Greater Des Moines is an annual event featuring an array of completed remodeling projects by top professionals in Central Iowa's construction industry.  This year, Kaufman Construction had two homes on the tour.

Home 13

Foster Drive, Des Moines

Our clients had a wonderful backyard including an in–ground pool a large brick patio and beautiful landscaping. The only problem was the patio provided no protection from the elements. To protect themselves from the harsh sun, unpredictable rain, and bugs, they decided to contact Kaufman Construction to convert the patio to a gorgeous screened porch. It wasn’t as simple as throwing a roof over the patio though. The size and position of the room had to be “massaged” in order for the new roofline to miss second story windows. Once the size was dialed in, the details were added. The result is a porch that fits seamlessly – as if it has been there since the house was built. Our clients have also added a patio and additional landscaping to bring the back yard together.

Home 15

Pleasant View Drive, Des Moines

Previous clients, who contacted us in years past to remodel their kitchen, contacted Kaufman Construction again to remodel their dysfunctional bathroom. This bathroom is small in size, so maximizing storage and finding the best layout with a large shower were a few crucial components. The result is a unique, yet stunningly spacious layout with beautiful mosaic accents! Through implementing client’s priorities, a creative “wet room” solution creates a transitional aesthetic flare and with warm natural tones in tile and custom cabinetry, the overall design promotes tranquility.
